Be My Gnome Valentine

Here is how you can make your own Valentines Day Gnome Bottle Topper

What could be better than a Valentines Day inspired gnome sitting on top of a nice bottle of wine or champagne? But if you don’t partake in alcoholic beverages, then a bottle of non-alcoholic wine or sparkling cider will can be just as fun.

Hopefully you have already been following me on Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest, and have seen some gnomes that I made for the holidays. But if not, that’s okay, I’m just getting started in coming up with all the possibilities a gnome can be incorporated into our lives. If you would like a template for the hat, scroll down this page and fill out the form to sign up to receive the gnome wine bottle topper pattern. You will then be directed to another page upon signing up.

Anyway, I already had some gnome hats with noses and beards, pre-made for the upcoming holidays and events. So all I had to do was pick one out and add some fun Valentine embellishments.

I didn’t want to use the one with the Christmas stocking pattern, and my sweetie doesn’t get into hunting so camo is out as well. So I’m torn between the Red Buffalo plaid and the green-gran plaid.

Here are some items I picked out to hot glue to the hat. I found the wooden hearts at a yard sale that were attached to something else and just pulled them off. You can probably find something very similar this time of year at your local craft or variety store.

After taking a survey with the family, it was decided to go with the green-gray plaid. The reason being, there is more contrast from the dull, natural colors of the plaid so that the hearts stand out more.

Oh major score!

I forgot about a sprig of pretty pink flowers that I purchased a couple of years back. They were 75% off because the store was going out of business. I don’t know about you, but I tend to put things away and forget about them. Luckily I was looking for something else when I came across them. Anyway, I think they go beautifully with the hearts and brighten anyone’s day. When Valentines Day rolls round here in the Midwest, people are getting pretty tired of winter. So these little flowers will be perfect for chasing away the winter blahs!

Here’s the finished product. I think it came out pretty darn cute! Not having a sweetheart in my life at this time, I think I will just have to get together with some single friends and share a bottle of wine (or two).

Happy Valentines Day from The Painted Pinecone!

I love the Gnome Topper. I will definitely be putting this on my to-do list.

I tend to put things away and forget about them too. I think it is common for crafts.
